of sound to come is a descriptive title, connecting the
exhibition and the collaborative process with Rolf-Erik Nystrøm,
who used my
work (shape) to compose a piece of new music (sound). The works I presented were monoprint, drawing, and sculpture made by reshaped and translated musical instruments the shape of sound to come also refers to Ornette Coleman's avant-garde album The Shape Of Jazz To Come (1959). Coleman discarded traditional concepts, and embraced improvisation and the dissolving of structure, as methods for creating music. I was interested in how these methods correlated with my work process. © 2007-2020 Yngvild K. Rolland. All rights reserved. |
