My Weekend With Jean-Luc pays homage to Jean-Luc Godard's film Weekend (1967), by deconstructing and translating the film through a veriety of media.
ARTIST BOOK AND SOUNDWORK
My Artist book weekend is based on the dialogue in Weekend. The project can be seen as an exercise in translation, on how original meaning is distorted, but
also how new meaning is gained, in any such transference of information. The dialogue between the two main characters were first translated to Norwegian.
Then translated back to English and French. The three texts were then translated to sound by typing them on a Typatune, an instrument that appears to be a typewriter, but where every letter is a note. An excerpt of this sound was modified and used in the video Death, disaster and expensive handbags, 2010.
